
Kathmandu, March 22
JTUCC has organized Seminar on ‘Climate Change and Just Transition Issues in the Nepali Labour Market’ on 22 March, 2025 in Kathmandu. The program was chaired by JTUCC President Mr. Jagat Bahadur Simkhada.
During the Seminar three Papers on Climate Change and Just Transition Context, Impact on Labour Market and Role of Trade Unions, Conclusions of CoP-29 and future Stakeholder’s Initiatives were presented by Dr. Ramesh Sapkota, Associate Professor of Tribhuvan University, Mr. Laxman Sharma, General Secretary of GEFONT and Mr. Rojnath Pandey, Secretary, of National Assembly respectively and discussed among the representatives of Ministry of Forests and Environment, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Employers, Presidents of JTUCC affiliated Confederations and trade union participants. The Seminar has way forward a joint commitment to address the climate change impact on workers as well as efforts to formulate joint strategy to deal with climate change impact in the labour sectors along with mitigation and adaptation measures.
